Cesar's Way, some notes

Now that we have adopted a dog who's fairly well-behaved, I decided to listen to Cesar Millan's book, Cesar's Way. Bizarre spiritual devotion to all the usual motivational icons (Oprah, Chopra, Bullwinkle, etc.) notwithstanding, I heard a few worthwhile bits of advice for living with Scoopy.

Dogs live in the moment

Your dog needs
-exercise
-discipline
-affection

On your walk, YOU should leave the house first

All humans in the house must be a pack leader

Correction must occur at the time of the unwanted behavior

Do not allow howling when you leave (how???)

Correct inappropriate dominance behavior by putting them on their side (also works for small children).

Meet a new dog by simply letting them explore by smell

Dog parks are no excuse for a walk

So, how are things going? Aside from last night - when, for some unknown reason, she paced and panted nervously all night long and we ended up sleeping on the sofa - swimmingly.

We fear she may be afraid of the dark. We're all still getting to know each other.
